Runnin With The Devil - Entry for August 30, 2007

Thursday, 10:0pm. I have been managing to keep up workouts even with the Lyme diagnosis. Actually, I hunted around on-line to see what type of information was available on Doxycycline and Exercise. There wasn't much. Any M.D.s who are "Lyme-Literate" that want to comment may do so.  I usually feel pretty creaky at the outset of a run or bike but after f-8 minutes I warm up and after 20 minutes I feel fine and I always feel better after it is said and done.

It's amazing the lack of and the totally conflicting information on Lyme that exists out there. Some anecdotal info that I picked up is the 15% of the nymph ticks carry, and they have to be clinging for 24 hours to transmit.  50% of the adults carry the disease, but they have to hang on twice as long to transmit. But if you squeeze the bastards upon removal, well you may have just made their job a whole shitload easier. So get the pointy tweezers and be careful getting them out. Spray your freakin' yards too, and cut the grass short.  And it is the mice that are carrying the disease around, the deer are just carrying the ticks around.

On the back end of it people get between 2-4 weeks doxycycline as a usual treatment course. advanced cases get up to 6 months and some of that may well be intraveneous. Lots of war stories on the web. The stuff just seems to may me stiff and achy. But not so dramatically that I'm ceased up.

Re-capping the the workouts since Sunday. sun - 1.5hr run.  mon - off. tues-35 minute run. wed - 45min bike/ 20 min strength. thur- 30min strength/20 min yoga.  Blah, blah...

Get the Lyme test! Spray your yard and cut your grass!!!!
